Grey skies and heavy clouds greeted the drivers on Saturday morning at Spa as they took to the track to get in their final practice laps before the afternoon qualifying session at this famous old circuit.
Too slippery for slicks, but not quite wet enough for full wet tyres, intermediates were used by almost all the drivers for the whole session – Lando Norris attempting a late run on softs that saw him kick the rear out on his way out of the pit lane, and thereafter creep round until he could return to the pits.
Max Verstappen ended the session quickest ahead of his Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez, with Lewis Hamilton third fastest for Mercedes.
