Lewis Hamilton clinched his seventh world championship title at the last race in Turkey, but he's showing no signs of easing off after he claimed pole position for this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver looked to be under pressure from Max Verstappen heading into the session after the Dutchman had topped the timesheets in the final practice session. But once qualifying got under way under the lights, Hamilton was once again in command, topping all three segments to seal his 98th career pole position.
Qualifying report: Hamilton on pole from Bottas as Red Bull lock out the second row in Bahrain
Valtteri Bottas pulled together a good final run to nab second and ensure another front row lock out for Mercedes, while the Red Bulls will line up behind them on the second row with Alex Albon in fourth, one place behind Verstappen.
