Thursday morning saw Formula 1 cars return to the streets of Monaco for the first time since 2019, and it was Sergio Perez who was quickest out of the blocks as he set the fastest time in first practice.
The Mexican led the session ahead of Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari, and Max Verstappen in the second Red Bull. Sainz's Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc had another difficult session at his home race, a gearbox problem limiting him to just four laps before he was confined to the garage as the team worked on his car.

Two-time Monaco winner Fernando Alonso also had a tricky session, with the Spaniard hitting the barriers at the final corner and damaging his front wing in the process.
