HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the action from a thrilling Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as Perez leads a Red Bull 1-2
Sergio Perez sealed a fifth career Formula 1 victory after taking a dominant win in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, while also leading home a second Red Bull one-two finish to start the year.
Starting on pole, Perez lost the lead to Fernando Alonso on the run down to Turn 1, but later made his way back past the Spaniard. Perez’s team mate, Max Verstappen, finished second after starting from 15th on the grid – due to suffering a driveshaft issue in qualifying.
Mercedes’ George Russell was the fourth car to cross the line, the Briton then briefly inheriting P3 due to Alonso being given a 10-second penalty after the race, only for the decision to later be overturned. The Briton finished fourth, ahead of the other Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton.
Lance Stroll brought out the Safety Car after he was told to stop his Aston Martin on track amid mechanical trouble, while Williams’ Alex Albon also retired from the race with a brake problem.
