‘A stunning rearguard performance’ – Former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer dissects Oscar Piastri’s brilliant Baku win


McLaren’s so-called ‘Papaya Rules’ dominated the headlines coming into the Baku weekend after Oscar Piastri’s forceful move on his team mate Lando Norris at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
But as it turned out, no team orders thinking was required in Azerbaijan after Norris qualified well down the order leaving Piastri to focus on being the lead McLaren driver in the Grand Prix. And on race day the Australian went on to deliver a stunning rearguard performance to wrap up his second victory of the season.
