F2: Lindblad in scintillating form as he takes maiden pole in Barcelona

Arvid Lindblad was at his brilliant best on Friday in Barcelona, following up his pace-setting Free Practice form to take the Aramco Pole Position Award for Campos Racing.

The Red Bull Junior led the way after the first set of push laps by over two-tenths to the rest of the field, his 1m 25.493s lap the benchmark time.

Despite bolting on a fresh set of soft tyres, Lindblad’s early time was still proving tough to beat, until PREMA Racing’s Sebastián Montoya rocketed up to P1 with a 1m 25.425s.

However, Lindblad would not be denied his first ever Formula 2 pole and completed a 1m 25.180s to take top spot, with Montoya ending up second.

DAMS Lucas Oil driver Kush Maini’s late lap put him third ahead of Invicta Racing’s Roman Stanek, with Rodin Motorsport’s McLaren Development Programme member Alexander Dunne in fifth.

MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor ended up in sixth place ahead of the second DAMS car belonging to Aston Martin Development driver Jak Crawford.

Hitech TGR’s Luke Browning was eighth, ahead of AIX Racing’s Joshua Duerksen, as Invicta’s Leonardo Fornaroli rounded out the top 10.

This means Fornaroli is set to line up on reverse grid pole for Saturday’s Sprint Race, which is set to get underway at 14:15 local time.
