It was a rollercoaster ride of a race in Canada, with non-stop battles throughout the order as the weather wreaked havoc at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. A great one, then, for generating some fascinating figures – here’s our round-up of just some of the best.
• Today’s was Max Verstappen’s 60th career win, and his 50th in the last 75 races since the beginning of 2021.
• It was also his third consecutive Canadian Grand Prix race win.

• Red Bull’s lead in the constructors’ championship more than doubled thanks to this win – they led Ferrari by 24 points before today and now have a 49 point advantage.
• Verstappen and McLaren’s Lando Norris finished one-two for the fourth time in the last five Grands Prix.

• McLaren scored points in Canada for the first time in 10 years.
• Norris is now the last driver to have scored in every Grand Prix in 2024.
• Team mate Oscar Piastri took P5 and has only failed to score in a Grand Prix once this season (in Miami).
• Today is the 56th anniversary of McLaren’s first-ever F1 Grand Prix win with Bruce McLaren at Spa in 1968.
DRIVER OF THE DAY: Never-say-die drive from Norris gets your Canada vote
• George Russell’s P3 was Mercedes’ first podium finish in a Grand Prix this year.
• Lewis Hamilton’s P4 was his first top-five finish in a Grand Prix this season.
• Hamilton missed the podium for only the second time in the last eight Canadian Grands Prix.
• With P6 for Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso ended his two-race scoreless streak.
• Team mate Lance Stroll finished in P7 for his fifth points finish in his home race, breaking the record for a Canadian driver held by Gilles Villeneuve.

• At RB, Daniel Ricciardo’s P8 was his first points finish in a Grand Prix in 2024 (he previously finished fourth in the Miami Sprint).
• Pierre Gasly’s P9 was Alpine’s best finish in a Grand Prix this season.
• With team mate Esteban Ocon in P10, Alpine scored points with both cars for the first time in 2024.
• Nico Hulkenberg (P11) and Kevin Magnussen (P12) were the only drivers to start on full wet tyres and the Haas duo ran in the top-four early in the race.
• Valtteri Bottas took P13 for Kick Sauber to tie his best result of the season.
• Ferrari’s double DNF was their first pointless weekend since Australia 2023.
• Sergio Perez now has back-to-back DNFs for Red Bull, in Monaco and Canada.
