FORMULA 2: Dominant De Vries takes pole in Monaco

Fuelled by the confidence of his Sprint Race win in the last round, Nyck de Vries was untouchable around the streets of Monaco and sealed a first pole position of the season in FIA Formula 2 Qualifying, ahead of Callum Ilott and Luca Ghiotto.
The session was split into two groups of 16 minutes, with the first of those dominated by the Ferrari Junior duo of Ilott and Mick Schumacher, the latter losing out by just 0.007s as Illott secured his best-ever qualifying result in F2.
De Vries was in a league of his own in the second group, however, and made light work of Ilott’s quickest lap. The Dutchman then smashed his own best time on the way to securing pole with a 1m 20.676s. Ghiotto had enough in the tank to take second, but couldn’t match the speed of his fellow title contender.
