FORMULA 3: Armstrong captures maiden F3 pole

Marcus Armstrong continued PREMA’s dominance of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, stepping up to secure his first pole position in the series, with current leaders Robert Shwartzman and Jehan Daruvala further down the order. The Kiwi driver held off attacks from Max Fewtrell and Juri Vips to cling onto P1, despite a late red flag interrupting the session.
Shwartzman’s Qualifying run was cut short as he suffered a technical hitch and was forced to pull over onto the bank at Turn 4 and settle for a disappointing P12 start. Armstrong took the reins and ensured a PREMA remained on top. Although, he failed to improve on his time when a promising lap was brought to a halt after Logan Sargeant curtailed nastily into the barriers and brought out a red flag. Thankfully, the American walked away unscathed.
When running resumed, Max Fewtrell and Juri Vips both saw late attempts at pole fall short by fine margins, with the duo 0.123s and 0.180s behind. This meant that the PREMA man out in front was able to hold onto P1, despite not improving upon his lap time.
