FP1 HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the best action from the opening session of the Belgian GP weekend
The Formula 1 circus arrived at Spa Francorchamps this week for the Belgian Grand Prix, and the cars hit the track for the first practice session ahead of the race on Friday morning.
Although at first glance it might have looked like business as usual with the two Mercedes cars first and second at the top of the time sheets with Max Verstappen behind them in third, a closer look revealed that the Dutchman was just 0.012s behind Lewis Hamilton in the second Mercedes.
Verstappen was followed closely by the Racing Point cars, with Sergio Perez just 0.136s off Valtteri Bottas' leading time, with the top four cars tightly bunched up in terms of their fastest laps.
