Grosjean set to leave hospital on Tuesday after treatment for burns

Romain Grosjean is set to be discharged from hospital on Tuesday as he continues to receive treatment after a dramatic crash in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Frenchman walked away from a huge crash on the opening lap of Sunday’s race. He was transferred swiftly to hospital, where X-rays revealed he had avoided suffering any fractures - but he did recieve burns on the back of both of his hands.

He spoke to his boss Guenther Steiner on the phone on Sunday night and then again face to face at the hospital on Monday morning, with the two making the decision he would skip “at least one race”.

Grosjean will continue treatment - which Haas said is "going well" - on Monday and watch Sunday’s Sakhir Grand Prix from the sidelines as he continues his recovery, with reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi subbing in for him.

The American team added: “It is anticipated he will be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday 1 December. Further updates will be given when information is available.”
