Oscar Piastri made it a clean sweep of fastest times in all three practice sessions for McLaren ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, besting team mate Lando Norris by 0.668s.
The Australian went fastest at the Bahrain International Circuit during Free Practice 3, posting a 1m 31.646s after using Pirelli’s soft compound tyre approaching inside the final 10 minutes.
FP3: Piastri tops the timesheets from Norris and Leclerc during final practice in Bahrain
His session best was more than a second slower than what he managed in the cooler, more representative conditions of FP2 on Friday evening, and which Qualifying will be held later on Saturday.
Norris, who topped FP1, could only finish second after the current Drivers’ Championship leader ran wide at Turn 11 on his new set of soft tyres before setting his personal best at the second time of asking.
Best of the rest was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, 0.834s behind Piastri’s benchmark, while George Russell was more than a second in arrears in fourth having suffered a small, harmless spin exiting Turn 10. Mercedes team mate Kimi Antonelli was less than one tenth further back as Pierre Gasly continued his impressive practice performance for Alpine to complete the top six.
