HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the Singapore qualifying action as Sainz takes pole and the Red Bulls drop out in Q2
A chaotic qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix saw plenty of drama as Lance Stroll suffered a major crash in Q1, while both Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez failed to progress into Q3. But rising above all of that was the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz, who claimed pole position for Sunday’s race.
The final moments of Q1 saw Stroll ride the kerbs into Turns 18 and 19, upsetting his Aston Martin which then spun heavily into the wall – Stroll thankfully getting out of the AMR23 under his own steam.
Q2 had plenty of drama too, as both Verstappen and Perez suffered a shock exit for Red Bull, the team’s struggles around this Marina Bay Street Circuit continuing on from Friday in one of the biggest upsets of the season – and marking the first time Red Bull haven’t had either car in Q3 since 2018.
Come Q3, though, and it was Carlos Sainz who showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels, claiming back-to-back pole positions for the first time in his career after his P1 triumph in Monza.
Watch the thrilling action in the video above.
