McLaren’s disastrous double disqualifications in Las Vegas for Lando Norris’ second place and Oscar Piastri’s fourth, due to excessive plank wear, have potentially serious championship implications.
The planks have four measuring points, two each at the front and rear. That on Norris’ car was found to be below the post-race 9mm limit by 0.12mm on the front-right and 0.07mm on the rear-right. That on Piastri’s was a respective 0.26mm and 0.1mm under on the right-hand side and in addition by 0.04mm on the left-front.
