MUST-SEE: Watch as Perez and Sainz end frenzied race in the barrier whilst battling for podium in Baku
A tight battle for the final podium spot ended in heartbreak for Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz as both collided and finished the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in the barrier.
After Oscar Piastri established a solid lead over second-placed Charles Leclerc late on, the Monegasque was forced to weave down the main straight to prevent Perez from getting a tow, sending the Red Bull driver wide.

The move helped his Ferrari team mate Sainz to close up on the Mexican, passing him into Turn 1 to take P3. However, as he pursued Leclerc, Sainz lost traction and Perez returned to the fight.
The two competitors tangled together between Turn 2 and Turn 3, resulting in both crashing into the wall on the penultimate lap.
Sainz and Perez were uninjured, but the race ended under the virtual safety car as George Russell was promoted to P3 while Piastri took his second career Grand Prix victory.
