A mandatory two pit stops could shake up this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, but you still want to be starting at the sharp end – and sharpest in Qualifying was McLaren’s Lando Norris, who took pole from the Ferrari of local hero Charles Leclerc by just a tenth of a second.
Norris has team mate Oscar Piastri riding shotgun in P3 on the grid, but no such luxury for Leclerc, after Lewis Hamilton was demoted from fourth to seventh for impeding. The man he impeded? World champion Max Verstappen, who now lines up in an ominous P4 for Red Bull.

We have a rookie on row three in the shape of Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar, joined there by the most experienced man in F1, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso. Row four comprises Hamilton and the Haas of Esteban Ocon, while the second Racing Bulls of Liam Lawson and Williams’ Alex Albon complete the top 10.
No Mercedes you ask? George Russell and Kimi Antonelli start 14th and 15th respectively after the former lost power during Q2 and the latter fell victim to the Monaco barriers in Q1.
And at the very back are the other two drivers to take penalties. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll has a one-place drop for causing a collision during practice and a further three-place penalty for impeding. Meanwhile, Haas’ Oliver Bearman was demoted 10 places for overtaking under red flags.
