McLaren’s Lando Norris blitzed Qualifying in Austria to claim pole, but that doesn’t automatically mean he’ll have things his own way when the lights go out on Sunday, especially with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc alongside him on the front row.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri will also be very keen to make up places from P3, yellow flags having put paid to his second Q3 run. And don’t dismiss Lewis Hamilton in the run to Turn 1, as he lines up next to the McLaren for Ferrari.
Canada winner George Russell starts fifth for Mercedes, joined on row three by a rejuvenated Liam Lawson in the Racing Bulls. Behind them are Red Bull’s World Champion Max Verstappen and his sim-racing buddy Gabriel Bortoleto, the Kick Sauber rookie a career-best eighth.
Completing the top 10 we have the second Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli, and Pierre Gasly, whose dramatic spin in the final corner was responsible for bringing out the aforementioned yellow at the end of Qualifying.
