PADDOCK PASS: All the reaction from a frantic Silverstone qualifying

Lewis Hamilton’s path to his 91st career pole was not the smoothest, with the six-time champion coming close to spinning away his chances of making it out of Q2, before recovering brilliantly to take his seventh home pole position – a new record in F1.

Further back, Max Verstappen may have finished a second behind the Mercedes of Hamilton in qualifying, but he fancied his chances of disrupting the Silver Arrows’ race, while Saturday also witnessed the qualifying return of Nico Hulkenberg, who took over the Racing Point RP20 of Sergio Perez on Friday, before ending up P13 on the grid.
