PADDOCK PASS: The drivers reflect on the 70th Anniversary GP after Verstappen takes victory
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finally pulled off the holy grail for teams in 2020, becoming the first driver to beat the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in a straight fight at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone to take his ninth career win.
It was a fantastic performance from the Dutchman, and one that owed much to his mid-race defiance of his race engineer on team radio. But there were other stand-out drives too, with Charles Leclerc in particular doing brilliantly to make a one-stop strategy work and take a fourth place that he claimed felt “like victory”.
