There was plenty of drama at the start of the Mexico City Grand Prix as local favourite Sergio Perez collided with Charles Leclerc in a battle for the lead.
Both Red Bull drivers had an excellent getaway, with Max Verstappen looking to challenge pole-sitter Leclerc into Turn 1 while Perez tried to find a way around the outside.

The move backfired for the Mexican, though, with his RB19 making contact with Leclerc’s Ferrari before being launched into the air and off the track.
Meanwhile Verstappen slipped ahead into P1 from Leclerc, who looked to be carrying some damage to the front wing following the incident, with Carlos Sainz behind in third while Perez managed to return to the pit only to then retire from his home race.
Further back Oscar Piastri managed to stay ahead of a charging George Russell as the action unfolded across the field.
