It was an ideal start to the Singapore Grand Prix for pole-sitter Lando Norris, with the Briton making a smooth launch to cleanly hold the lead into Turn 1.
Despite some troubles with his starts during the season, there were no issues for Norris when the lights went out this time around as the McLaren surged forward to maintain P1. Lewis Hamilton also made a good getaway from P2, but Max Verstappen moved across to cover the Mercedes off, keeping the Red Bull in second place.

Oscar Piastri, meanwhile, initially lost out to the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg after being pushed wide by George Russell, before the Australian retook fifth place later in the lap.
Further back, a few cars went wide into the first corner – resulting in Alex Albon losing out to Williams team mate Franco Colapinto – while Sergio Perez climbed up from P13 to P10.
