ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS - AUGUST 20: Williams pitstop practice during previews ahead of the F1 Grand

STRATEGY GUIDE: What are the tactical options for the Dutch GP?

Special ContributorMatt Youson

McLaren are back after the summer break where they left off before it, with Lando Norris on pole by a tiny margin, after McLaren looked the class of the field across all three parts of Qualifying. But we also had a Sprint on Saturday, and the papaya cars were clearly struggling with rear grip over the longer distances.

The difference between the Grand Prix and Sprint is, of course, the provision of strategy. There are many different ways to get to the finish – but also plenty of options to undercut, go long, or develop a meaningful tyre delta. On top of that, not everyone is taking the same approach to tyre allocation. We’re going to have a game of chess today – albeit chess played at 330km/h.
