The inaugural Qatar Grand Prix provided plenty of drama under the lights at the Losail International Circuit, with Lewis Hamilton romping to victory to keep his title hopes alive. But a combination of grid penalties, car damage and tyre issues saw no end of action following in his wake – and kept the engineers very much on their toes. And as a result, the airwaves were filled with interesting messages from disgruntled drivers…
In practice, Sebastian Vettel calmly detailed the rogue items rolling around in his cockpit, while his team mate was much less sanguine with his description of his car’s performance, and then Pierre Gasly was left plain confused by a neat 360 Degree spin.
Roll on qualifying, and Carlos Sainz couldn’t take the pressure, but Fernando Alonso certainly could as he found the track very much to his liking. The Spaniard was equally cheery with how his race was going, even managing to recall shades of Hungary as he begged a favour from his team mate.
