WATCH: How De Vries’s spectacular Formula 1 debut unfolded at Monza
As he put it himself, Nyck de Vries enjoyed a “dream” Formula 1 debut at the Italian Grand Prix after jumping into Alex Albon’s Williams and delivering a memorable points finish.
De Vries replaced the unwell Albon from FP3 onwards and proceeded to out-qualify and out-race regular driver Nicholas Latifi – turning his P8 grid spot (amid penalties for rivals) into a P9 finish.
It came after De Vries – who won the F2 championship back in 2019 – appeared for Aston Martin during Friday practice, with the 27-year-old Dutchman now knocking loudly on the door for a full-time F1 seat.
