Charles Leclerc and Ferrari started the season-opening Australian Grand Prix weekend on top after setting the pace during Friday’s second practice session in Melbourne.
Leclerc used soft tyres to clock a best FP2 time of 1m 16.439s around the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit – marginally quicker than McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

It compares to Max Verstappen’s 1m 15.915s pole position time at last year’s event in Australia, with one more hour-long practice session ahead of the drivers before they get stuck into qualifying.
