WATCH: Leclerc's run of bad luck at the Monaco Grand Prix
Saying Charles Leclerc hasn’t had the best of luck at his home race is a bit of an understatement. Before he even made it to the ranks of Formula 1, he even failed to finish both F2 races in Monaco.
Surely that was an anomaly? Well, it hasn’t been so far. From a brake failure when driving for Sauber, to a crash in 2019, Monaco hasn’t been kind to Leclerc. Add in a qualifying crash last year after grabbing pole which led to car damage meaning he couldn’t even start the race… And it is easy to see where the idea of Leclerc’s Monaco curse has come from.
The good news is that he has shown glimpses of genius here, from his pole lap in 2021, to a string of good overtakes in 2019. Can he put the curse behind him in 2022?
Hit play on the video above to see just how the three F1 races Leclerc has featured in have panned out for the Monegasque driver.
