A full seven different drivers won the first seven races of the 2012 season. But it’s fair to say that the victory no one saw coming was Pastor Maldonado’s incredible triumph for Williams at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Taking pole on Saturday (once McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton had been relegated to the back of the field for a fuel infringement), Maldonado then put in the drive of his life, perfectly executing an undercut in the first stops to leapfrog ahead of Fernando Alonso, before holding on to take victory.
Relive that incredible day in the video above, along with a stand-out performance from Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, and an unfortunate clash between Michael Schumacher and Bruno Senna.
