Max Verstappen made it a hat-trick of pole positions so far in 2024 as he sealed top spot in qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix.
The Red Bull man was on form in Q3 as he bagged a 1m 15.915s lap ahead of Carlos Sainz, the Spaniard still not 100 per cent after surgery to remove his appendix, but who had shrugged that off to be top throughout Q1 and Q2. The Ferrari man would eventually finish P2 to line up on the front row alongside Verstappen for Sunday's race.

Verstappen's Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez was third in qualifying, though faces an investigation post-session for an impeding incident with the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg in Q1.
