WATCH: Ride onboard with Perez as he sets the fastest lap of 2023 pre-season testing
Red Bull’s Sergio Perez lit up the timesheets under the lights at Sakhir – and we have the spectacular onboard footage.
Saturday saw Perez set the fastest time of the 2023 pre-season test in Bahrain – where next week’s season-opening Grand Prix will be held. He drove the Red Bull RB19 for the whole of Saturday, notching up 133 laps for Red Bull.
The Mexican equipped soft tyres and blazed around the circuit in 1m 30.305s, two-tenths quicker than last year’s pole position time, as the session neared its end, with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton 0.3s back.
“I think the team has done a tremendous job. Back in Milton Keynes, all the factory has been working really hard over the winter. We’ve certainly got a good base car,” said Perez.
