Oscar Piastri set the pace on the opening day of action at the Australian Grand Prix, the home favourite topping the timesheets in Friday’s second practice hour.
The McLaren driver pumped in the fastest time with a 1m 19.729s, delighting his watching fans as he slotted into the P1 slot.
Piastri’s effort gave him a margin of 0.214s from Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, while the other Silver Arrows car of George Russell was just over three-tenths back in third place.
