WATCH: Ride onboard with Verstappen for his outstanding pole lap in Abu Dhabi
Max Verstappen took a commanding pole position that could help him fight for another world title in Abu Dhabi.
Max Verstappen secured an extremely important pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, beating Standings leader Lando Norris and the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri to set the stage for an exhilarating title decider.
The Red Bull driver's recent struggles with the car bouncing were forgotten as Yuki Tsunoda gave him a tow on his first flying lap in Q3, sending him to provisional pole before he went even faster on his second attempt to end with a time of 1m 22.207s.
Verstappen has a 12-point deficit to overcome in order to win his fifth consecutive championship, and with the last 10 races at the Yas Marina Circuit being won from pole, he's in a strong position to do so, but only if Norris does not finish on the podium.
