Red Bull driver Max Verstappen posted the fastest time during Friday practice for the Japanese Grand Prix, which saw a mixture of dry and wet running.
With FP1 taking place in dry conditions and FP2 on a damp track surface, it was Verstappen’s benchmark in first practice that topped the day’s combined timesheets.

Indeed, the reigning world champion worked his way down to a time of 1m 30.056s on the soft tyres, putting him a couple of tenths clear of team mate Sergio Perez and the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz.
