Max Verstappen stormed to pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix with an imperious display during Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session at the Red Bull Ring.
Following on from a hard-fought Sprint victory, and a competitive run in Q1 of qualifying, the reigning world champion lit up the timesheets across the Q2 phase to move comfortably clear and send a message to the rest of the field.

Then, in Q3, Verstappen doubled down to produce two laps quick enough for pole, working his way down to a sublime benchmark of 1m 04.314s and finishing some four-tenths clear of nearest rival Lando Norris.
